Potable Water (WRAS) Seals

Potable Water Seals – For water applications

A range of Potable Water Seals is stocked at M Barnwell Services HQ and  WRAS compliant (BS 6920).

In the United Kingdom, rubber sealing materials certified for drinking water installations must fulfil the demand of BS 6920 of the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme.

WRAS material certification comprises non-metallic components and materials, in particular, elastomer sheet material and O Rings that must endure analysis for their influence on water quality. This type of certification indicates that the non-metallic component/material does not contaminate the water and therefore fulfils the specific demands of the regulation.

It is an obligation that all non-metallic materials interacting with water intended for food production or domestic use must comply with demands of BS 6920.

M Barnwell Services’ WRAS BS 6920 approved materials overview:

  • Compression moulded FKM rubber O rings
  • Black coloured
  • Shore hardness 70
  • For use with water up to 70°C
  • Tested in-radii sizes between 0.8mm and 3.5mm

  • Entail shift in appearance (dimness or colour)
  • Extract toxic metals
  • Favour microbial growth
  • Add flavour or odour
