Oil & Gas Critical High-Temperature Valve Seals in 4 Hours

the challenge

A leading Oil & Gas company instantly required O Rings for high-temperature valves on an Offshore Platform – PEEK wear seats and PTFE ball seats.
The Customer encountered a breakdown in critical sealing components on high-temperature valves. If not fixed very quickly, this failure would have a serious negative result on manufacture downtime. Only a 12-hour slot was given to source and acquire stress-tested O Rings with proven ED (Explosive Decompression) resistance.

the solution

Engineers reacted very quickly and were on-site in no more than a few hours. Valve assembly and the requirements of the installation were assessed. MBMS0268 sealing material O Rings were recommended, which were available from stock. PEEK wear seats and PTFE ball seats which were needed for the valve assembly were produced via Rapid Production Service.

the result

From the very first contact to the fitment of the seal took just 4 hours – a lot less than the Customer’s own particular slot for this unplanned maintenance occurrence.
Quick engineers’ reaction allowed a Customer to save thousands of pounds in lost production. Also, the customer was provided with a lasting sealing solution that offers resistance to thermal, environmental and chemical demands of Offshore Oil & Gas valves.
