AEM Seals UK

AEM Seals – where heat and chemical resistance is vital

M Barnwell Services supplies a wide range of AEM Seals for applications where chemical and thermal resistance is critical. We stock, manufacture and distribute O Rings and Back-up Rings for a wide selection of industries, including Automotive, Bus, Truck & Trailer, and Agriculture.

Ethylene Acrylate Rubber (AEM) is a copolymer of ethylene and methyl acrylate. It also consists of a small amount of an added curesite monomer containing carboxylic acid groups to deliver a cure to active groups in the polymer chain.

AEM demonstrates features similar to those of polyacrylate, however with an enhanced low-temperature limit and better mechanical properties.

AEM products are used where heat and fluid resistant rubbers are needed, flexible applications such as hoses, boots, dampers as well as seals and gaskets for automotive assemblies, such as power steering systems and automatic transmissions.

They are perfect for the automotive industry, due to their remarkable heat resistance, excellent ozone and sunlight aging resistance, good resistance to swelling in oils and very low permeability to gases.

Their maximum tensile strength is of 2,500psi. Good mechanical properties including tear resistance, flex life, compression set, resistance, abrasion resistance, adhesion to metals, water resistance, engine coolant mixtures (glycol), dilute acids and alkalis.
