What is a spiral wound gasket?

Spiral wound gaskets are metal strips wound with a soft filler material, they are constructed by winding together the metal strip and filler material in alternating layers. The filler acts as the main seal and the metal gives it the structural strength and spring like reinforcement making it robust and easy to install. This construction allows them to handle:

  Gasket Types

  Type R

  

  A basic element only gasket with no solid inner or outer rings which can be used with flat face and tongue and groove flanges.

  Type CRIR

  

  A spiral wound gasket consisting of metallic winding and soft filler with inner and outer rings to improve compression control and blow out resistance.

  Type CR

  

  A metallic winding and soft filler with only an outer ring ideal for use with flat face and raised flanges

  Type RIR

  

  Sealing element consisting of a metallic winding and soft filler with an inner ring only made to suit male to female flanges.

  Type RHD

  A spiral sealing element wound with high density for use in high-pressure pumps, high pressure valves and gas applications. They are also low emission tested to ensure they maintain a tight seal fluctuating pressure and temperature conditions.

• Type HTX

  A high-performance seal designed for heat exchanger applications. They are manufactured with thin outer windings to create a large diameter for narrow heat exchange.
