Optimising Pharmaceutical Production – GYLON BIO-PRO®
Advance Production Solutions: GYLON BIO-PRO® Seals
For pharmaceutical manufacturers, the demand for sterile production lines often leads to a the frequent replacement of “soft part” seals. This seemingly minor issue accounts for a staggering 50% of all production downtime, significantly impacting efficiency. The cause of this problem lies in the limitations of elastomer seals, which frequently break down under chemical exposure or extreme thermal conditions which can happen under the sterilisation process.
However, by transitioning to a high-performing sealing material, pharmaceutical companies can now rely on significantly longer production campaigns. This not only allows more enhanced productivity and increased output, but also delivers substantial cost savings by minimising downtime and maintenance expense.
GYLON BIO-PRO® Seals
The Gylon Bio-Pro® and Gylon Bio-Pro Plus® seals are specifically engineered to tackle critical challenges in Pharmaceutical manufacturing, improving productivity and significantly reducing operational costs. Made from advanced, high-performance re-structured PTFE, these seals directly address the failings of traditional elastomer seals by resisting chemical and thermal degradation.
Independent testing conducted by SCRI-IS Technologies, in which these seals successfully endured 1,000 sterilisation-in-place (SIP) cycles, simulating two years of harsh operational conditions. The results of these tests showed their exceptional durability, leak resistance and minimal need for re-torquing, making them perfectly suited for the most demanding phamaceutical environments. Futhermore, the GYLON BIO-PRO® Seals also displayed excellent results in cleanability tests based on EHEDG guidelines, exhibiting minimal microbial contamination, outperforming conventional materials.
